About this event
On June 26, 2025, Honduras' energy utility, ENEE, launched a 1,500 MW international public tender, aimed at bolstering Honduras' national energy supply. The tender is open to both renewables (solar, wind, geothermal, hydro); and non-renewables (thermal/bunker and or natural gas) technologies.
Tender represents a rare, high-impact opportunity for U.S. energy-tech, energy storage, and power-generation companies to enter a growing Central American market under structured, favorable conditions.
This webinar will provide information about a great opportunity for interested U.S. Companies.
What Is the ENEE 1,500?MW Project?
• Honduras’s state-run utility, the Empresa Nacional de Energía Eléctrica (ENEE), is launching a landmark international public tender for 1,500?MW of firm generation capacity, supported by a 10% reserve margin. The contract follows a Build–Operate–Transfer (BOT) model over a 15-year term.
• The tender mandates a reverse auction with multi-round economic evaluations, aiming for a tech-diverse portfolio of about 65% renewable energy (paired with storage) and 35% non-renewable. The deployment schedule is:
o ~800?MW by early 2028 (minimum 170?MW renewable)
o ~300?MW by early 2029 (minimum 10?MW renewable)
o ~400?MW by early 2030 (minimum 180?MW renewable)
• The project is expected to attract over US?$1.5 billion in investment, within a broader US?$4.6 billion requirement for the sector over the next decade. Payment obligations will be state-backed, with financial mechanisms in negotiation involving the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).
